Detroit is excited to welcome back the Feet on the Streets for the fall season. This is a calendar of tours throughout Detroit where you can experience and enjoy the city. The tours offer a chance to sample and purchase seasonal treats, flowers and produce.
The first tour is the Eastern Market tour, a chance to stroll and taste local food. The tour is back for its 13th year in a row. The Eastern Market Tour’s theme is to “Come Hungry, Leave Happy, Learn Healthier.” The event is taking place on Saturday, October 18th and Tuesday, October 21st.
What to Expect
The Eastern Market is going to be a chance to walk through different specialty stores and learn all about various foods. You’ll get to experience unique products, learn about history of the area and get fun facts while going behind the scenes of the shops. You’ll even get to sample some of their products.
The types of food you’ll experience include:
- Specialty sausages
- Authentic spinach pies and spreads
You’ll get to talk to the local vendors and local growers. They’ll be telling people all about their products and why they are improving people’s health. They’ll explain how to be healthier with Michigan foods and you can purchase seasonal fruits and vegetables. Don’t miss the art gallery visit, which is located in a former brewery.
Where and When?
The first tour was on Saturday, September 20th. The next tours will take place Saturday, October 18th and Tuesday, October 21st from 9:30am – 12:00pm. Head over at 9:15am inside Rocky’s, the former Rocky Peanut Company, where you’ll register for the event.
Rocky’s is located at 2489 Russell Street in Detroit across from Shed 2. Then the tour will begin at 9:30am. It will cost $29 for the tour. Get your tickets fast because the tours fill up.
