There are different parts to staging a home and all of them have the same, basic purpose….to help your home sell quicker and for the amount that you are asking for. If you have the money in your budget then hiring a Professional Stager will be worth the money spent.
However, if you do not have a staging budget, do not fear, there are simple things you can do yourself. Here are a few things you can do to stage your home.
Pack and then pack some more!
Most of us can live without about half of our belongings, at least for a short time. It is easy and natural to collect things but your processions can draw attention away from your home and its selling points.
Pack as many things that you can (especially unneeded furniture) and store them somewhere off of your property if possible. If you must store them in your garage then make sure that you are still able to fit a car in there.
Clean. You can never clean too much…
A pristine home also conveys to the potential buyer that it is a well-cared for home. Clean every nook and cranny that you can find. Make sure you clean the ceiling fans, door frames, baseboards, windows and blinds.
Light and Bright
You don’t want a potential buyer to walk into a dreary and dark home. Turn on every light, even appliance lights and under cabinet lights, and open every curtain and blind. This is also where good cleaning comes into play. You want them to see how bright, clean and well cared for that your home is.
Depersonalize Your Home
Your home needs to be the center of attention, not your family, friends and pets. You should pack away almost all family keepsakes and personal photos.
If you are marketing your home to families then keeping a nice family photo out on display would be appropriate.
Clean up and manicure outdoor areas.
If you don’t have any money in your budget to update or re-do landscaping then at least make sure that it looks perfectly manicured. Your yard should be kept at three inches, no longer, no shorter and watered to stay green and healthy looking.
Using your power washer or renting one will make a huge difference to any decking, patios and fencing. It is a quick way to give the outside of your home a clean and refreshed look.
These are just a few of the very inexpensive ways to get your home ready for sale. There are many other things you can do to stage your home without spending much or anything at all.
