Detroit, Michigan is excited to announce their upcoming Jazz Festival. The festival is taking place over Labor Day Weekend, which includes August 30th, August 31st, and September 1st of this year. Head downtown to Monroe Street and Woodward Avenue for a weekend for jazz lovers. You won’t want to miss huge festival in Detroit that will mark the end of the summer.
What to Expect
For the 35th year the Jazz Festival is coming to Detroit. This major cultural organization in the city regularly provides educational programs and concerts in jazz, and the Detroit Jazz Festival is the combination of this in one event. There will be over 100 acts that weekend covering five different stages. This huge event will bring in over 750,000 attendees, most of which will be between the age of 25-54 years old.
Not only will they offer numerous amazing performances, but they will provide education activities for everyone as well. The event spreads out from Hart Plaza on the riverfront to Campus Martius Park. There will be three stages at Hart Plaza and two stages on the North, as well as the Jazz Talk tent.
Cost and Hours
Each day from August 29th – September 1st, the event will begin at 10:00am. Because of sponsorship, there is no cost to attend so you won’t have to provide a ticket. A variety of food and drinks will be available for purchase during the event.
Who Is Performing?
Musicians from around the world will be performing. Artists include Joshua Redman, Sean Jones Quartet, Straighten Up and Fly Right, Cyrus Chestnut Plays Dave Brubeck, and many more.
